Goal two of the FSI program is to facilitate the academic success of children impacted by parental incarceration by maintaining them in their school of origin. The annual target percentage for children remaining in their school of origin is 75%.  During FY20, 100% or 98 of the children participating in the FSI program remained in their school of origin to avoid the negative effects of student mobility. Research suggests that students are negatively impacted by mobility in a number of areas including test scores and high school graduation, and these impacts can be exacerbated when mobility is accompanied by family dysfunction including homelessness.

The annual target percentage for children remaining in their school of origin is 75%.  A total of 100% or 95 of 95 unduplicated school-age children receiving program services remained in their school of origin during FY21.

Definition:  School of origin is defined as the school that a child/youth is attending at the point in time when the family begins participation in the FSI program.
