Story Behind the Curve

In Arkansas, all doses of vaccines administered to persons under 22 years of age are required by law to be entered into WebIZ, which serves as the state immunization registry. Vaccine doses administered to person aged 22 and older are allowed to be entered, but it is not required by law. The more complete the information in WebIZ is for persons of all ages, the better Arkansas can track how well we as a state are doing in protecting our citizens from vaccine-preventable disease. This is an important strategy for increasing the quality of health care provided to all patients in Arkansas, because it helps to make sure that everyone receives their recommended vaccines, while helping to avoid duplicate doses of vaccines not needed because they were already received.
