Notes on Methodology

  • There is no target we are trying to reach, rather we are tracking this measure for awareness, budgetary impact, and to inform decision making.

Story Behind the Curve

This measure is important because it provides awareness of the number of accommodations coming in, any identifiable trends, as well as the potential cost impact to the department. It also provides insight for informed decision making.

Ergonomic assessments occur when an employee notifies us of a discomfort or an injury or if we have a move of workstations or buildings. The employee provides the details of any injury or discomfort and the Operations Unit shares this information with the contracted vendor. The vendor visits the employee’s location and recommends employee’s workstation heights and recommends equipment. The Operations Unit then works with the vendors to achieve the recommendations of the assessment.

Since returning to the workplace in February 2022 we are seeing an increase in ergonomic assessment requests.   This is primarily due to staff changes and the need to set up the workstations appropriately.   Please note, five requests were completed in March 2022.  Three of them we reused existing ergonomic equipment.  The other two we re-fitted two workstations based on the style and assessment recommendations.
