Story Behind the Curve
For FY20, a total of 22 participant completed the GED Program. Out of the 22 participant who completed the GED program, two participants took the GED test prior to COVID19 city shut down. Both program participants who took one component of the GED test past it. During COVID19, students could not take the GED test as the city shut down. As a result, no one obtained a Diploma or GED at the end of the program year. Greenbelt CARES continues to follow up with these students and encourage them to take GED test. For FY20, a total of 25 participant who completed the Life Skills Workshop did not obtain apprenticeship/training program or employment due to high unemployment rate as results of COVID-19. Agency continues to provide participants with information about employment and the One Stop Career Center.
