Story Behind the Curve
Approximately 75% of the 135 consultations performed in 2013 were completed via telephone or e-mail, while the other 25% involved in-person on-site consultations. Over 100 of the consultations were direct communications with employers and/or their workers regarding existing hazards in their workplaces and appropriate controls.

What Works
In 2011, the CT DPH Occupational Health Program has developed the Workplace Health Assessment Program as a way to provide consultation-style services to employers or worker groups interested in improving the health and safety of their workplaces.
Action Plan
CT DPH Occupational Health Program staff investigate cases of work-related injury and illness received through various surveillance activities. This ranges from telephone or email consultation to on-site workplace inspections. In addition, CT DPH staff respond to direct queries from our partners and the public regarding safety and health in the workplaces in our state.
