What is this Indicator?
In 2011 Tahoe Forest Hospital District (TFHD) commissioned a Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) study among its adult community using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) BRFSS tool. The BRFSS is a national initiative, headed by the CDC that assesses the health status and risk factors among U.S. citizens. TFH conducts the needs assessment every three years.
This indicator tracks adults age 18-64 who answered yes to the question "Do you have any kind of health care coverage, including health insurance, prepaid plans such as HMOs, or government plans such as Medicare?"
Story Behind the Curve
In 2011, TFHD's community has a lower rate of health insurance (77.4%) than their US counterparts (84.7%).

2021: TFHD comissioned a Community Health Needs Assessment study in partnership with Franklin & Marshall College. This indicator tracks aduts who answered, "Do you have any kind of health care coverage, including health insurance, prepaid plans such as HMOs, or government plans such as Medicare?"
