* Nebraska is slightly below the National target. In 2008, the Nebraska Legislature passed a law to require all Nebraska cities with over 1,000 people to add fluoride. Cities had the option to opt out, and 49 communities did vote to do so (including Grand Island, Hastings and Beatrice). This could be a contributing factor to our lower percentage of statewide fluorinated water.
