Why Is This Important?
Mental health is an important component of one's overall health. Mental health impacts an individual's overall well-being and allows an individual to realize his own abilities, cope with normal stresses of life, work productively and able to contribute to one's community. When mental health needs go unaddressed, family and relationships often suffer and physical health is impacted often leading to chronic diseases and substance use disorders.
Explanation for the Indicator
This indicator is calculated as a percentage of all adults experiencing intergenerational poverty covered by public health insurance that have a mental health diagnosis and also received mental health treatment.
