Story Behind the Curve
Unemployment is the situation of actively looking for employement, but not being currently employed. Unemployment peaked at 15.7% in 2009 in Macomb County which was the most recent recession. A good paying job makes it easier to provide quality housing, to reside in safer neighborhoods, and provide nutritious foods all of which affect health. Studies have shown that laid off workers have poorer health.
