What is this about?
Where children and young people are considered to be at risk of "significant harm" from emotional, physical, sexual abuse or neglect, a Child Protection Plan is created to make sure all those who work with the family are clear about what actions need to be taken and by whom, to improve the safety and protection of children. This indicator provides a snapshot of the number of children who have Child Protection Plans on 31st December each year.
Following a slight rise towards the 2nd half of 2021 the number of children on a Child Protection Plan remained stable throughout the year. However this increase is now reflected in the rate of Child Protection Plans with Jersey’s rate of 44 Child Protection Plans per 10,000 children being higher than the England rate of 41.
