What is this about?
According to NHS guidelines, children between the ages of five and 18 years are recommended to eat at least five portions of fruit or vegetables per day. This indicator uses data from children in Years 6, 8 and 10 who took part in the Jersey School Survey and were asked how many portions of fruit or vegetables they ate the day before the survey.
The 2021 results showed 30% of children in Years 6-10 were eating the recommended number of portions. There is a significant difference in the proportion of children eating 'five a day' between Year 6 (35%) and Year 10 (25%).
