Story Behind the Curve
Logan County has a target value of 0 suicide deaths. The trend from 2018 to 2019 has decreased from 12 to 7, respectively. The majority of deaths are adult males and the primary means of death is gunshot. Eight deaths by youth under 20 years of age since 2008.

Action Plan
- Encourage and utilize advocacy groups and peer/family support
- Advertise local available resources and information
- Engage and increase awareness of the Suicide Prevention Coalition
- Determine barriers/facilitators to care
- Utilize Community Health Assessment (CHA) to identify trends and/or relationships between demographics and social determinants of health with suicide
- Utilize screening for suicide for patients 12 or older using a standardized tool when indicated, and, if screened positive, provision of, or referral to, appropriate follow-up care

- Collaborate with community partners and organizations to educate and provide training to businesses and schools
- Increase peer and faith-based supports
- Increase knowledge of and access to mental health services
