Story Behind the Curve
To reach UWSC's target, 43 additional people would need to be served annually over the previous fiscal year.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, some of our healthy food access/nutrition programs had to close doors. Among them was Heartland Senior Services Congregate Meals program. Other programs scrambled to serve these seniors (for example, Meals on Wheels saw an increase in individuals served). The increase reported from FY18-19 to FY19-20 is therefore especially remarkable. In FY20-21, however, there was a decline as multiple programs had to keep their doors closed for the safety of their high-risk populations. Among the programs that were unable to safely serve clients were Heartland Senior Services’ Adult Day Center and Congregate Meals (“Friendly Lunch Bunch”) and The Arc’s Active Lifestyles (cooking component).
Partners
The following partner agency programs report data that is aggregated here: Heartland Senior Services (HSS) Meals-on-Wheels, HSS Congregate Meals, HSS Senior Food Program/commodity boxes, HSS Adult Day Center, YSS Rosedale Shelter, The Arc’s Active Lifestyles cooking program. The FY18-19 baseline does not include data from HSS Meals-on-Wheels Under 60 program as this was new for FY19-20.
* Note: A decision was made not to include summer meals offered through SFSP.*
