*2020 data should be treated with caution due to reduced availability of testing caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Number of newly diagnosed HIV infections per 100,000 population.

Why is this indicator important?

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains a deadly disease if left untreated. Diagnosis is important to ensure that infected individuals receive appropriate treatment and to lower the risk of spreading the infection to others.
