Data Description and Source
Description: Negative trend. The overall heart disease mortality rate for Arkansas increased between 2012 and 2021, from 218.6 to 231.0.
Variable but generally negative trends. Heart disease mortality rates among non-Hispanic Blacks remained high than among non-Hispanic Whites between 2012 to 2021. Rates among females remained lower than rates among males over the same time period. For non-Hispanic Whites, rates of heart disease mortality generally increased for both genders, with males having a rate of 295.0 per 100,000 by 2021 and females having 184.3 per 100,000. Over the same time period, rates among non-Hispanic blacks were more variable, with rates in 2021 per 100,000 population being 213.1 and 352.5 for females and males, respectively. The non-Hispanic Black female group was the only group where heart disease was lower in 2021 than in 2012.
