According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Risk Index, three California counties (Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino) have "very high" potential for negative impacts as a result of a natural hazard, such as wildfires, earthquakes, or flooding.1 More than a third of California's older adult population lives in these three counties.
