Discrimination based on disability is the most common basis for employment-related complaints and for housing-related complaints to the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). In 2019, people contacting DFEH for employment investigations complained of discrimination on one or more of the following bases: disability (19% of complaints), sex/gender (14%), race (13%), and age (11%), among others.1
