What Works
Strategy
While the Bureau of Behavioral and Community Health are working on additional earlier prevention measures, Narcan is a key defense in preventing overdose deaths in emergency situations. Baltimore County has named a goal to reduce the rate of drug-induced deaths from fentanyl by 5% by July 2022. To help reduce deaths, Baltimore County has trained more Health Department staff, Corrections staff, and peers on the use of Narcan so that more people are prepared to prevent overdoses from turning fatal.
