Story Behind the Curve
From Q3 2023 to Q2 2024, the number of Champion Dyad meetings declined significantly. This drop was largely due to organizational disruptions, including layoffs around September–October 2023 and shifts in leadership within the CDI initiative. As roles were redefined and uncertainty grew around responsibilities, engagement from medical partners declined. Some reps became hesitant about participating in referrals or meetings without clear direction. In the latter half of 2024, the numbers began to stabilize and recover slightly as SisterWeb staff made efforts to rebuild relationships, clarify expectations, and reinvest in consistent communication with partners.
Partners
Medical reps and SisterWeb staff are central to the success of Champion Dyad meetings. However, the strength of these partnerships depends on having clearly defined roles, mutual trust, and reliable communication channels. Some partners—especially those who remained engaged through transitions—helped anchor the process and model what strong collaboration can look like. Others struggled with limited capacity or uncertainty about how to participate meaningfully. Identifying clinical champions within each hospital or department can help sustain these partnerships and ensure meetings continue even during times of change.
What Works
In settings where Champion Dyad meetings have remained consistent, strong structures and shared ownership have been key. Practices such as standing agendas, co-leads from both organizations, and transparent goals help maintain engagement and accountability. Open lines of communication before and after meetings, as well as clear documentation of outcomes, ensure that momentum continues between sessions. Inviting the right people—those with decision-making power or firsthand experience—has also helped make meetings more productive and solutions-focused.
Strategy
To improve the consistency and impact of Champion Dyad meetings, SisterWeb can prioritize re-engagement with medical partners by clarifying the value and goals of these conversations. Assigning a dedicated liaison or co-lead from both SisterWeb and the medical site can help anchor the meetings. Using shared agendas, structured feedback loops, and follow-up summaries will build trust and accountability. In cases where medical reps have changed roles or disengaged, outreach to identify new champions or reframe participation expectations may help rebuild momentum and ensure meetings continue with purpose and direction.
