Story Behind the Curve
As a medically-underserved community, including for behavioral health, the need for additional capacity for patients and quicker access to assessments that help determine proper levels of care is great for our community. In the nine months that our licensed clinical social worker saw patients in 2021, she was able to conduct 359 assessments and to refer 307 of those to the proper level of care outside our program. The remaining individuals were served as clients in the program for child, adolescent, adult, and/or family therapy as appropriate. The program did not have an LCSW for approximately 1.5 years. A new LCSW was hired in April, 2023. However, the LSCW position became vacant again in September of 2024.

What Works
Care at the appropriate level when the patient needs it and referrals to other levels of care upon assessment if needs cannot be met appropriately within our program.
Action Plan
Continue to recruit to fill the LCSW position in order to reopen the program.
