Story Behind the Curve
CMCA is dedicated to becoming a trauma-informed agency. We strive to incorporate the principles of trauma-informed care both internally and through our service delivery. To this end, we have committed to creating an action plan to guide us on our journey of becoming trauma-informed. This measure tracks the progress of that plan's development.
Why Is This Important?
CMCA is committed to the principles of trauma-informed care: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment. Safety includes both physical and emotional safety. Choice is based on the idea that the individual has choice and control and is aware of their rights and responsibilities. Collaboration involves sharing decision-making power with the individual. Trustworthiness is based on solid relationships, clear communication, mutual respect, and professional boundaries. Empowerment includes validation of the individual's strengths and lived experiences.
