Definition
Last updated 03/06/2023
Liver and liver/intrahepatic bile duct cancer diagnoses in San Francisco County.
Why Is This Important?
A common risk factor for liver and IBD cancer is chronic HCV infection and liver cancer is a major cause of death in people with a chronic HCV infection. While not all liver cancer is caused by HCV, this measure is important because it gives us an idea of whether our strategies are successful in identifying people living with HCV and curing them of the infection, so they're less likely to develop cancer. A downward trend in this curve is desirable.
