Story Behind the Curve

This dataset includes all reports between January 1st, 2017 and December 31st, 2019. Lincoln County fire departments responded to 235 fire incidents (Blue) in which a detector report was filed. These types of incidents are listed as: Building Fires; Fires in structure other than in a building; Cooking fire, confined to container; Chimney or flue fire, confined to chimney or flue; Incinerator overload or malfunction, fire confined; Fuel burner/boiler malfunction, fire confined; Commercial Compactor fire, confined to rubbish; Trash or rubbish fire, contained; Fire in mobile prop. used as a fixed structure, other; Fire in mobile home used as fixed residence; Fire in motor home, camper, recreational vehicle; and Fire in portable building, fixed location. Of these reports, 101 incidents had smoke detectors present (Orange), 83 incidents had no detectors present (Teal), and 51 incidents detectors were undetermined if present (Green). Undetermined presence of detectors may be reported due to fire damage and/or lack of confirmation from civilian.
