Why Is This Important?
Story Behind the Curve
In Q4 2021 the jail changed the way they report their testing data. Now they just report their rapid tests, and whether they did a confirmatory test because the antibody test was positive. Prior to that, about 1/3 of their antibody tests were blood draws, which are now no longer reported.
We have a decreasing number of tests among people who are Black/African American. That's one place where we're really missing the mark thus far; we need to do a better job doing outreach in the Bayview neighborhood. Specifically, we need more Bayview-based outreach, and we need to address medical mistrust head-on. One of the barriers to testing services in the Bayview is the density - there's a lot more spread of folks, so a lot more to cover.
Quality Improvement Plan
SFCHC has a community navigator who's actually from the Bayview; Sam Cuadra will connect with Kyoko at DeLIVER Care to see if they can support and improve success in outreach in that area. DeLIVER is looking for a Friday site, so this seems like a good way to proceed.
We also need to do more to build collaborations with providers in the Bayview specifically. Very few members of End Hep C SF are providers based in the Bayview, and we'd like to see a change in that membership over time!
