Story Behind the Curve
Duplin County has experienced an increasing number of undocumented immigrants, farm workers, and historically marginalized populations. Some families may have felt the effects of the changes to the Children's Health Insurance Program, leaving some without Medicaid coverage.
What's helping:
- Care management programs such as CMHRP & CMARC assisting many families with Medicaid application process for infants
- Sliding scale fee
What's hurting:
- Cost of care without insurance
- Decreased awareness on how to apply for insurance programs
- Language barriers
