Story Behind the Curve
The following targets were set nationally:
- By June 30, 2022, Vermont will have achieved and maintained an 80% or higher in- state answer rate for Lifeline calls.
- By June 30, 2023, Vermont will have achieved and maintained a 90% or higher in- state answer rate for Lifeline/988 calls.

In state lifeline centers are operated by Northwestern Counseling and Support Services and Northeast Kingdom Human Services.
Notes on Methodology
This data represents the percentage of calls answered in Vermont, by one of the two lifeline centers. If a call is not answered in Vermont in a timely way, it is routed to the backup call center in New Hampshire before being routed to the national call center.
