Story Behind the Curve
Although the curve does not look steep, the percentage of Utahns reporting poor mental health has significantly increased from 2016 to 2023. The global pandemic and social isolation of COVID-19 may be an important factor. However, poor mental health was already increasing in Utah before the pandemic started. In 2023 there was a slight improvement over 2021 and 2022.
