Why Is This Important?
TPoint-in-time counts are an important method used to better understand the extent and nature of homelessness in communities across the nation. The count helps us address housing needs in our community and helps track progress toward the goal of ending homelessness. (Community Shelter Board, 2023)
About
The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. HUD requires that CoCs conduct an annual count of people experiencing homelessness who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night. (HUD Exchange 2023)
