Story Behind the Curve

From 2016 to 2020, Lucas County saw an increase in a household's ability to either retain their home or exit homelessness by gaining permanent housing. However, in 2021, the Global COVID-19 Pandemic caused the measure to drop to 95.4% in 2021 and down to 86.7% in 2022. In addition to the pandemic, the Lucas County saw an increase in the cost of living, partly due to the increase in the cost of housing. Since the pandemic, there has also been an increase in inflation starting in June of 2021.
