Story Behind the Curve: Med Instead of Meds

• NC Cooperative Extension of Franklin County and the Franklin County Health Department partnered in May 2022 to offer a nutrition program to the residents of Franklin County. This program began on May 3rd, 2022, and ran over a 6-week period.
• This program is a yearly offering, so we are planning to start the program again in Spring 2023.
• Attendance data was collected at each class to assess the number of participants.
• For the May 2022 cohort, there were a total of 11 participants enrolled in the 6-week course. 
• One of the barriers to participation is that this course is offered over a 6-week period, which is a time commitment for participants. If the program was offered over a short period or just a few sessions, that may increase the number of participants. 

2023 Update

• In 2023, since individual sessions were offered instead of the whole 6-week course there was a big increase in participation. A total of 8 individual sessions were offered serving a total of 124 people.
