The surveillance team within DPH is adequately staffed to meet their strategic goals.

The surveillance team identified 5 key data science positions/gaps as they moved to division level surveillance in March 2023. These positions were a division surveillance team lead, an additional surveillance team manager, and 3 epidemiologists (syndromic, modeling, and genomic). The surveillance team has hired a team lead, a syndromic epidemiologist, and a genomic epidemiologist. They are finalizing an offer on a modeling epidemiologist, and have started recruitment for an additional team manager. The Division of Population Health surveillance team will continue to assess staffing gaps annually as part of their strategic planning process. They will work to recruit and maintain staff to fill needs as additional gaps are identified.
