The primary data source for these data is the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) inpatient data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Discharge data from the MEDPAR inpatient dataset are restricted to Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) short term hospitalizations for the Medicare Fee For Service population.
