Description: Positive trend. Between 2013 and 2021, the percent of high school students that reported smoking cigarettes within the past 30 days decreased from 19.1% to 4.9%.

Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBS).

Notes: Crude prevalence of responses is reported.  Survey is conducted among randomly selected public high school students (grades 9 to 12).
