This measure reflects the percentage of Utah adults who said they saw a dentist in the past year. This is collected based on their response to the following question on the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS).

Story Behind the Curve
This survey shows that just over 70% of Utahns have received dental/oral care in the past year. While, above the national average, this still indicates that 30% of Utahns are not receiving this vital service. These numbers can be improved, but it will take time and a multifactorial approach. The Oral Health Program is developing a State Oral Health Improvement Plan and intends to use education and outreach to encourage people to get dental care.
