Story Behind the Curve
Nonfatal overdoses can result in admissions to local emergency departments. These visits provide an opportunity for connections to peer support and other services. In Montgomery County, community treatment providers receive a notification when their client visits an emergency room for an overdose. City and county outreach teams are notified when individuals who are not connected to treatment are admitted for an overdose and conduct follow-up visits to provide referrals to treatment and other support.
