Story Behind the Curve
Produce Perks is Ohio’s Nutrition Incentive Program. The program provides a $1 for $1 match for families and individuals receiving SNAP when dollars are spent on healthy food. SNAP dollars can therefore be stretched to purchase additional fruits and vegetables. The goal of Produce Perks is to increase access to healthy foods in the most under-served communities while simultaneously supporting the local farmers and strengthening the local economy. Currently, 14% of Montgomery County households receive SNAP.
