The US Diabetes Surveillance System (US DSS) used data from the CDC's Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) and the US Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program to obtain county-level estimates of diagnosed diabetes, obesity, and physical inactivity (US DSS, 2023). The BRFSS is an ongoing, monthly, state-based telephone survey of the adult population aged 18 years or older that provides state-specific information on behavioral risk factors and preventive health practices (US DSS, 2023).
