Measure Definition
This data comes from Utah Performance Management System (UPM). It measures the average number of employees that have documented monthly one-on-one meetings with their supervisor.
Story Behind the Curve
In April 2023, DCFS set a goal to reach a target of 70% or above average monthly documented one-on-ones for all staff. DCFS recognizes the importance of reducing burnout and increase psychological safety for its staff. We know that a positive team climate is essential to psychological safety and is most likely to occur when leaders demonstrate supportive, consultative behaviors. This year’s goal is to support this through purposeful one-on-one meetings between employees and supervisors. One-on-ones are different from quarterly performance reviews as they are about supporting employee well-being, growth, and development. The goal is to foster a culture of honest feedback and open communication so all staff feel comfortable asking for help, sharing suggestions, or challenging the status quo.
The data for this measure is not currently available due to system barriers with UPM. DCFS and DHHS are actively working with DHRM and UPM to resolve these barriers.
