Measure Definition
This measure represents the Stress Satisfaction Index (SSIX) for DCFS on the Guarding Minds at Work Stress Satisfaction Scan. This scan provides a snapshot of employees’ experiences with fairness and supervisor support, which can have a mediating effect on the overall score. This is strongly associated with a variety of physical and mental health outcomes and is expressed as a single number ranging from -2 to +2. Positive scores point toward a psychologically safer environment while negative scores suggest a greater risk of harm.
Story Behind the Curve
DCFS began in the 'elevated risk of psychological injury' category in March 2022 and has improved over time, entering into the 'low risk of psychological injury' November 2023. After that, DCFS have been in the 'average risk of psychological injury' range for the last two scans. DCFS has engaged in several strategies to increase employee stress vs satisfaction rates, including a leadership conference in August 2023 focused on creating authentic connections as drivers for impactful leadership, collaboration, and communication among team members; introducing the requirement for monthly one-on-one meetings for all supervisors to meet individually with staff at least once per month; and requiring an annual performance plan for 100% of qualifying staff by October 1, 2023. The current trend shows a downward trend. The leadership team is using the Results-Based Accountability (RBA) for FY2025 to review scores closer and implement tactics that will positively impact the employees.
