Story Behind the Curve
Child and Family Team Meetings are the core forum for status updates, planning, and discussion around a youth's progress while in custody with JJYS. These are driven by youth voice, and they are where a youth can learn to advocate for oneself, and it is also a place where they are accountable to a larger team, which includes their case manager, facility staff, therapists, coaches, mentors, and their family. While every youths family dynamics look different, JJYS strives to ensure at least one positive adult or family member is present at every team meeting.
JJYS cannot force a family member's attendance, but it is something the agency is actively training and promoting. JJYS's target for this measure is to have the presence of a family member or positive adult at 95% of the Child and Family Team Meetings that take place.
