Story Behind the Curve

Drug overdose death rate in Stokes County has increased from 15.6 to 62.1 per 100,000 people. This is a fourfold increase in 8 years. In terms of actual deaths this equates to 6 to 33 deaths per year. This mirrors the State and National increase in drug overdose deaths.  In 2018 and 2019 Stokes County observed a dip in the drug overdose death rate.
