Story Behind the Curve
WCDPHE Community Health Workers work to promote health in the community, especially among the Latino community. Free Zumba at the Rodarte, is a safe space where CHW can provide access to physical activity, education, and offer resources to participants. Total participants 379 in 2023.

What Works
CHW are trusted member of the community they serve. This trusting relationship enables the worker to serve as a link between promoting health and the community to facilitate access to services (e.g. physical activity). Partnerships among organizations are key to increase access and is fundamental on the program success.
Action Plan
Free Zumba at the Rodarte is a weekly class. Zumba is a dance exercise program with life-improving benefits such a mentally, socially, full body workout and overall benefit of health.
