Story Behind the Curve
This is a new indicator the DPH Workforce Team is using in addition to the other workforce measures to better gauge the workforce ecosystem at DPH. Our goal is to monitor the % of separations that are due to staff leaving for better employment and reduce this over time. This adds a layer of examination to our turnover and vacancy rate that can speak to voluntary vs involuntary turnover.
For reference, between 2019 and 2024, the top four reasons for separations have been (from highest to lowest): leave for better employment, retirement, lateral move in agency, personal reasons.
