Story Behind the Curve
Currently in Nebraska, Community Health Workers may receive training in a variety of ways. Nebraska Dept of Health and Human Services provides a path to certification after a process based upon the core competencies designed by a statewide steering committee. The course takes about 14 weeks between the in-person and the online content, and then students complete a capstone project which may extend up to three months. After successful completion of this curriculum, students are awarded a certificate of completion.
