Homeless youth refers to youth enrolled with Dubuque Community School District that lack fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, including those who are living in a homeless shelter, hotel or motel, car, campsite, any other location not suitable for people (i.e. an abandoned building), or are temporarily living with more than one family in a house, apartment, or mobile home (doubled up, but not by choice; would not have a place to stay if not doubled up). Homeless data has increased by more than double from 2006-2013, growing from 71 students to 166.
