The bulk of RTC placement cases that come to CRICT are VPA's. DSS' preference is to serve these children in their homes and communities.
The team always strives to develop an effective action plan (wherever and whenever possible) to provide community-based wraparound services that meet the child's need to reduce or remove the need for RTC placement. Team members are often creative at developing solutions that allow the family to access appropriate services and supports; common services are mentoring, after school and mental and behavioral health. Partners also work to address transportation needs as that is often a key barrier for families when attempting to access services.
