This measure is important because there has been an increase in members seeking mental health counseling and it is imperative that we have enough mental health counselors so members can be seen close to their home and in a timely manner.
This measure highlights the counties in the state of Vermont and how many mental health counselors are available to Medicaid members. Due to the aging population of our mental health providers, we will continue to monitor the availability of mental health counselors to our Vermont Medicaid members.
The trendline shows that the overall availability of BMHSA providers is currently remaining steady. However, the break-out grid shows the detail that more mental health providers practice in greater populated counties while fewer practice in the more rural counties.
