Q1 2021

Underperformance in this measure is attributed to ongoing restrictions and caution working with large groups. For example, HNSW were participating in the Yabun event on the 26th January whoever this was cancelled due to the Northern Beaches cluster. Only one special event was held late this quarter with 67 people attending. The HNSW Aboriginal Project worker taking the lead on planning, delivering and MCing at our BBV community organisations hybrid event for National Close The Gap day. The event was well attended both online and face to face with welcome to country, lived experience voices, speeches and organisational pledges made.

No special events were held this quarter. Large health promotion events continue to be impacted by restrictions.

189 people attended special events including the Hep Awareness webinar delivered as part of an educaiton session online. 

Q1 2020

HNSW engaged over a 100 people at the YABUN festival on the 26th January with 22 quizes completed plus 10 other meaningful conversations and over a 100 HNSW resources distributed. This stall was another succesful collaboration with 414 Close the Gap partners demonstrating strong and supportive sector to Aboriginal community. 

Q4 2019

The major events this quarter were the HARP Forum and the 2019 Rugby League Knockout on the Central Coast.  The Rugby League Knockout is the largest Aboriginal event in the NSW annual calendar with more than 20,000 people in attendance over the three days.  Hepatitis NSW along with SWOP and ACON interacted with hundreds of people over these three days providing important information about hepatitis B and C, STIs and HIV.  

Hepatitis NSW had significant prominence at the 2019 HARP Forum.  Hepatitis NSW Aboriginal Project Officer and Programs Manager won people choice for their Close the Gap oral poster presentation.   Hepatitis B Project Officers gave a startling oral presentation on their hepatitis B community education project.  Community Support Coordinator, Community Support Project Officer and the Programs Manager were on the 'nothing about us, without us' panel which provided an opportunity to talk about Hepatitis NSW peer programs.
