Story Behind the Curve
It has to be acknowledged that COVID had a major impact on the demand for hardcopy resources.
There has been no consistent pattern with this chart except to say that the largest peaks generally correspond to mailouts associated with the hepatitis C awareness campaigns, Tx! Mag, hep related events and targeted resource promotions.
Additionally, there are longer term factors at play. Aside from the awareness campaigns, we expect that over the next five years our stats will fall. This reflects the hep C treatment landscape. Five years after the new treatments became available, our marketplace is shrinking (which is a very good thing).
Additionally, given that hep C is no longer a chronic life-threatening illness, our range of resources has been reduced; thus lower numbers of resources distributed overall.
We will continue to adapt our resources to this changing landscape, our key aim being to produce excellent health promotion materials that address the needs of our target communities (mostly hepatitis C, but increasingly, hepatitis B).
Partners
Our key partners include all General Practices and clinics involved in hep C treatment. Additionally, the networks of clinical and health promotion workers within Local Health Districts, Corrective Services NSW, Juvenile Justice, NSP (harm reduction), AOD (drug treatment) and Primary Health Networks.
What Works
Creating well-designed resources that address the reader's needs briefly and concisely as possible.
Email promotions to workers via ADCA Update and NSP Forum, and cross-promotion via The Champion (Professional) help ensure our overall distribution remains high. Keeping our CRM database correct and comprehensive is really important, as is remaining aware of how Hepatitis NSW can help/partner with each of the above types of agencies/workers.
Action Plan
Analyse our past orders and survey our distribution partners about how we can better provide them with relevant and current, high quality resources that are well targeted towards their clients. Ensure we continue to put out regular promotions across the viral hep related sectors.
Tap into the ever-growing number of General Practices (doctors) who prescribe the DAA drugs.
Ongoing expansion, update and cleansing of our database to ensure we are in contact with all relevant health care workers across NSW.
Running a standing promotion within The Champion (Professional) and more regular promotions in the above email lists (What Works).
