TTUSD collects enrollment data annually for each site. Data does not include SELS.

Story Behind the Curve

TTUSD saw a large increase in enrollment from 1984 through 1998, when it grew from 2,885 to 5,099 students. Enrollment continued to increase with the opening of Prosser Creek Charter in 1998. However, when Prosser Creek closed in 2004, many students did not return to the TTUSD, resulting in a significant enrollment decline. Until the 2012/2013 school year, the TTUSD saw a moderate but consistent decline in enrollment since 2008. However, 2012/13 enrollment numbers showed a small increase over previous declines and 2013/14 showed a modest rise in enrollment over the previous year.

While the overall population of the region has increased slightly, student enrollment has been in decline. Earlier projections, that the percentage of children in the population of the Tahoe/Truckee region will drop while the senior population will increase over the next 15 years have some support in current data.
